Why am I not losing weight?

The single biggest reason clients start working with me is to lose weight. First week kicks off and the client is super motivated. At the end of week 1, we see a decrease on the scale and so much excitement 🥳, things are going great! Fast forward one to two weeks and the scale stalls. “I am working hard, and eating well, Morgan what’s happening?”

As a wellness coach and an empath, my client success literally keeps me up at night. I feel their frustration & although I hate when my clients are discouraged, it is an opportunity to decipher a mystery. One of the 187 reason, I am obsessed with what I do is that each human is so unique. Their chemistry, lifestyle, grocery shopping habits, social circle, finances, mentality, literally everything about someone is different from the next. By truly understanding the big picture, we work together to uncover the missing piece of the weight loss puzzle and get back on track 💪🏽 Here are three of the most common hurdles to weight loss:

  1. Consistency- As mentioned above, week 1 on most weight loss programs produce a loss. Week 2 rolls around and the scale doesn’t move as much, so we become frustrated and retract to our old habits. A few days pass and motivation returns, but now we have a few more pounds to lose. The “yo-yo” diet & exercise program does more harm than good, which is why it’s so important to find something that works for YOU and stick to it.
  2. The weekend mentality- “I ate SO great this week, worked out everyday, but then I had dinner with friends on Friday, a birthday party on Saturday and brunch on Sunday.” 4 days healthy and 3 days indulging unfortunately will have an effect on success. It’s important to enjoy yourself (and trust me I do), but it can’t be a three day affair. This can also blend into problem #3 ⬇️
  3. “The slashed tire mentality”- This is a message I receive at least once a week. “Ugh, I was eating so well and then my mom made chocolate chip cookies so I had one. Figured, well now today is ruined, so I ordered pizza for dinner and finished with ice cream for dessert.” You guys, one cookie is FINE. Unless you are prepping for a competition or an Olympic athlete, you can eat a damn cookie and see results. I have to eat something sweet everyday. The issue lies in saying f*ck it and going junk food crazy… which if you have done this, you usually feel worse afterwards anyways. Just because one tire on your car pops, please don’t slash the other three.
